This is an environment piece I worked on during the spring of 2018. It is inspired by the interior of Himeji Castle, also known as the White Heron Castle, in Hyogo, Japan. The scene is rendered in real-time in the Unreal Engine. I had fun designing the materials and the lighting that went into the scene, and I played around with particle effects and light functions inside the engine. I also made decals and vertex-painted surfaces to give it more of a worn, aged look.
